Annual South Woods Wildflower Walk & Spring Meeting

The Spring Wildflower Walk has been a South Woods Park tradition for more than four decades. The Walk returns on Saturday April 29 at 1:30 p.m., guided by Ripon College Professor Emeritus of Biology Skip Wittler and Assistant Professor of Biology Ben Grady. South Woods Park is known for its spring ephemerals, which bloom early and for a brief period before the canopy closes. Hepatica, Dutchmen’s Breeches, Spring Beauty, Trillium, Trout Lily, and more are to be found. A helpful photo guide is available for download from the South Woods website and will be available at the Walk.

Members are invited to attend the Spring Meeting at 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot.

Interested participants should meet at the South Woods parking area on Union St. Children are welcome. The walk usually takes between 75 and 90 minutes. Dress for the weather -- rain-or-shine event unless severe storms threaten. The trails used for the guided walk are of easy to moderate difficulty. Limited parking is available in the South Woods lot, but parking is allowed on Union St and Skyline Circle.
