About the Event
Celebrate spring at South Woods Park on Saturday, May 2 with two special events that highlight the beauty and stewardship of this cherished natural area: the Spring Member Meeting and Annual Wildflower Walk.
The afternoon begins at 12:15 p.m. with the South Woods Park Association’s Spring Member Meeting, held in the park parking area (N7974 Union Street, Ripon). SWPA President Ben Grady will share a brief update on recent accomplishments and upcoming initiatives, including grant applications for invasive species management, new bridges, and signage improvements. The meeting will last approximately 30 minutes.
At 1:00 p.m., stay for the beloved Annual Wildflower Walk, a tradition spanning more than 40 years. Guided by Ben Grady and Ripon College Professor Emeritus Skip Wittler, this walk offers a chance to experience the park’s stunning spring ephemerals—wildflowers that bloom briefly before the forest canopy fills in. Species may include Trillium, Hepatica, Dutchman’s Breeches, Trout Lily, and more.
